Overview

What companies are in the app — clients, suppliers, and partners — and how the rest of this section is laid out.

Companies are the businesses you work with. Every work order is raised against one, every material order is addressed to one, and the name and address on your paperwork come from one. This section is your address book.

Admins only

The Companies page is open to admins only. Moderators and members who open it see a No access message. Keeping the client list in one pair of hands avoids duplicate and mismatched records.

The three types

Every company is one of three types, which decides what it can be used for.

TypeWhat it is for
ClientA business you make parts for. Work orders are raised against clients.
SupplierA business you buy raw material from. Material orders are addressed to suppliers.
PartnerA business you work alongside, such as a subcontractor or an outside service.

A company's details, its name, tax numbers, address, and contact, are reused wherever it appears, so entering them once keeps every document consistent.

What this section covers

The pages that follow take the section in turn:

  • The companies list, and finding a company in it
  • Adding a company
  • Opening a company to see or change its details

Companies count towards your plan

Clients, suppliers, and partners are each capped by your plan, and the three are counted separately. The Usage page shows where you stand against those limits.
