The positions page

The Positions tab of a work order — the parts on the job, searching and filtering them, their files, and how to work with them.

Positions are the individual parts on a job. Open a work order and choose the Positions tab to see them all in a table, one row per part, with its quantity, price, status, and its drawing and model.

Searching positions

The search box filters the list by position name. Start typing part of a name and the table narrows to matching parts as you go. It matches any part of the name, ignores capitalization, and searches names only, not numbers or prices. Clear the box to bring the full list back.

Filtering

Two filters narrow the list to the parts you care about, and they work together with search.

  • The status filter shows only parts in the statuses you tick. Positions use the same statuses as work orders, from Received through to Completed.
  • The priority filter shows only parts at the priorities you tick: Low, Medium, High, or Urgent.

Each filter lets you pick several values at once, and a part matches if it is in any of them. With search and both filters set, a part has to satisfy all three to appear. Use Remove filters to clear the status and priority filters together.

The table

ColumnWhat it is
CheckboxSelects the row for a bulk status or priority change
NumberThe position number on the job. Click the heading to sort.
NameThe part name. Click it to open the position.
StatusThe part's status, as a dropdown you change in place
PriorityThe part's priority, also changed in place
DeadlineThe part's due date
QuantityHow many are being made
PriceThe price of one part, in the job's currency
TotalPrice times quantity
DrawingThe part's drawing, or No drawing if none is attached
ModelThe part's 3D model, or No model if none is attached
ActionsOpen, edit, or delete the position

Price and Total show no value until a price is entered. A part with a price of zero reads as no data rather than a currency amount.

Drawings and models

Each position can carry a PDF drawing and a STEP model. When a file is attached, the Drawing or Model cell gives you actions to view or download it. When none is, the cell simply reads No drawing or No model.

Files are added when you add the position, covered under Adding positions below.

Row actions

The actions menu at the end of each row has three choices:

  • Details opens the position, where its operations, material, and documents live.
  • Edit position opens a panel to change the part's name, quantity, price, and the rest.
  • Delete position removes it from the job after a confirmation. Editing and deleting are limited to admins and moderators.

Adding positions

Positions are added from the Add position button in the work order's navbar, not from this table. Each position is added on its own, together with its drawing and model, so a job with twenty parts is built up twenty times rather than imported in one go. The full walkthrough is in Getting Started, under Create first work order.
